Born in 1955 at Bakel in Kasaragod. She works as an editor. Nalini Bakel writes novels and short stories. She has received Edassery Award for “Muchilottamma” in 1987, first place in the novel contest organized by Mathrubhumi weekend edition in 1977 for her debut novel “Thuruthu” and received an award for the best novel by State bank of India in 1992 for” Amma Daivangal” (“Mother Goddesses”). In ‘Silavanangal’ (‘Stone Forests’) Bhadra’s thoughts and experiences are woven together. Bhadra was born in her ancestor’s home, mystified with the stories of gods and kuttichatan (hobgoblin like creature), she suddenly starts realizing what's happening around her. To a certain extent the mystical nature becomes the centre of attention of this novel.
