Beena K. A.

K. A. Beena was born in 1964 in Trivandrum. She is the daughter of M. Karunakaran Nair and Ambika. She is a graduate in English literature from Government College for Women, Trivandrum and did her post graduation from the Mass Communication and Journalism department of Kerala University. She is the news editor in Trivandrum Doordarsan Kendra.

         Since 1996 she is active in conducting the meetings of women writers. She had been interviewed by Asianet, Indiavision, Doordarsan, Kairali and Jaihind.Her interviews have appeared in various magazines too. She writes children’sliterature,travalogues as well as short stories and does translations too.

       In her story Rakshasan (Monster) she narrates the story of Minikutty, a fourth standard student who was brutally molested. The condition of the child who couldn’t even understand the reality of her state is evident in the story. As everyone around her voice their opinions, she only knows that she was trapped by a monster, one with a human form. The story has great significance under the present day events.
