Saru Dhanwandari’s actual name is Saraswathy Antharjanam. She was born in 1949 in Methiri of Kottayam district. Her parents were Savithri Antharjanam and Raman Namboothiri. She is a post graduate in Malayalam literature. Currently she is teaching Malayalam in Thodupuzha Santhigiri College. Saru Dhanwanthari is a poet. From Idukki, she was selected and honored for her creative literary contributions in 2008 by Mathrubhoomi Grihalakshmi forum.Samskara Sahithi in relations with Public Relations Department presented her an honorary Certificate on 12 December 2008 for her contributions to literature. Her interviews were published in ‘Kanyaka’ and ‘Mathrubhoomi’ daily. The poet says that changing times had played a role in the drying up of poetic springs. While the modern society is turbulent with inhuman activities devoid of any virtues, the poet is doubtful about the dreaming capacity of her poetic heart. Religion and dogmas failed philosophically and the relationships crumbled. The poet laments if there is anyone left to give her a drop of love ‘.The poem ‘Kavitha Thedi’ (‘In Search of Poetry’) reminds that poetry is virtue and it has no existence without virtue.
