Ambika Varma C.

Born on 8 November 1962 in Trivandrum. She is the daughter of Ravi Varma of Neduvakkod Kovilakam and D. Chandrika Varma of Nedumbulla Kovilakam. She practiced music and violin early in her life. She passed Ganabhooshanam and Ganapraveena from Swathi Thirunnal College of Music. She also learnt Ragam, Thanam and Pallavi under the guidance of Mavelikkara Prabhakaran from Sri Chithira Thirunnal School of Music. She also did a Keyboard Grade Course (Carnatic Music) from Tharangini School. She has been working as a violin teacher in Padmabhushan Dr. K.J Yesudas's Tharangini School of Music. She is also working as a teacher in Mookambika Music School. She has also worked as a music teacher in Vishwa Prakash Central School. She has won cash award in Young Talent Programme in violin in 1987 and gold medal from Avittam Thirunnal Library in 1990.

Swararagam, (Lessons in Carnatic Music) is the published work of Ambika.

Swararagam is meant for studying the basics of music. In order to facilitate the study of the basics of music this book has been prepared with details ranging from Sapthaswaras to musical compositions. Music is an art of life. One can acquire noble qualities by practising music. It spreads bliss to all. The book helps to systematise the study of music.
